With a combination of two Grammy Awards and eight Juno Awards, nine gold albums, three platinum albums, and seven multi-platinum albums, Krall has definitely carved her own path in the music industry. She also holds the outstanding record of being the only jazz artist to have had eight albums debut at the top of the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. Her track When I Look in Your Eyes, released in 1999, solidified her presence in the music industry after it stayed at the No. 1 position on Billboard’s Jazz chart for 52 weeks. The same track went Platinum both in the US and in Canada. In 2020, the singer gave a glimpse of her songwriting journey, saying, “…Improvising in life is important, how to navigate your next move. Today’s different, so how are we going to choose our next response? One thing we hopefully do as jazz musicians is take risks within certain structures and make it sound right — listen, respond, and be helpful. Be empathic.”
